If for any reason you cannot use Avidemux we can use VirtualDub instead.

VirtualDub

VirtualDub is an open-source, free video capture and video processing software written by Avery Lee. We can use it for processing linear video streams, including filtering and recompression. It uses the AVI codec format.

There is a version for Linux and Mac OS X using Wine. It uses AVI files exclusively, but the right codec needs to be installed.

With VirtualDub we can do video capture, we can create a video from image files; we can extract sound tracks and Edit a video file.

We can use components called filters to reduce a video size for example and perform other basic video editions.
